Photography/Interview – Under the Blue Light with Pearl Charles
Artist: Pearl Charles Photographer: John Allen Producer: Nathan Edge HMU: Kate Leatherwood Styling: Nicky Turner Inspiration for this photoshoot was taken from retro photography, a mix of psychedelia and screenshots from The Holy Mountain. The Aurian Haller Band’s House of Words Is Poetry and Music Perfectly Aligned
The Aurian Haller Band successfully sprawls across the genre-scape; from indie-folk to country-twang to experimental jazz, this quartet ignites aural sparks in their new album released earlier this month, House of Words. The band merges together poetic songwriting with instrumental coordination into a well crafted package, displaying their folk melodies which ring reminiscent of Leonard Cohen. Music is just part of the brothers’ blood, as it has been for the last few generations of Brauns. Micky and Gary make up half of the Brauns brothers; their older siblings, Willy and Cody Braun, head the increasingly popular and genre-similar band: Reckless Kelly, who just so happened to edge out Jay-Z and Metallica for a Grammy award in Best Record Package last…
God & Tragedy: 2012 In Review
God and Tragedy In the wake of the shootings that occurred in the year 2012, and the reaction they engendered, I found it to be a good time to talk about a few of the issues America as a nation has been faced with. Firstly, the initial reaction to any tragedy such as this is horror – as it should be. Compassion and prayers for the families affected should be first and foremost on our minds and hearts for those who have lost loved ones, and for the children who underwent this horrible trauma. The larger question remains, however. What is the source of this endemic? Newtown was not an…
