Street Style: Summer Music Festivals

It’s finally spring, which can only mean one thing: music festival season. It’s personally my favorite time of the year; with the combination of fantastic music and street style fashion, nothing gets better than that. South by Southwest (SXSW) just wrapped up in Austin, and flipping through sites displaying top street style photos makes me super pumped to attend Coachella in two weeks. For those that don’t know, Coachella is a 3-day music festival that takes place in Indio, aka the middle-of-nowhere California desert. It seems like half of Los Angeles makes the 3 hour trip for at least one of the two weekends for the epic music event. The line up is always on point, and people always show off their best festival style, even in 100+ heat.  I decided to go back through last year’s photos to get some inspiration for outfits, here are some of my favorite festival fashion.

I put all of this Coachella inspiration and excitement to use, and created my own dream outfit. So, here’s what I came up with….

I love the idea of making your own dip-dye high waisted shorts, but if you’re strapped for time you could always pick some up off Etsy. The crop top back is complete lace; love the feminine touch. I went with a moccasin boot, so your feet aren’t stepped on or smashed up. Trust me from experience, especially at the packed headliner shows. Some might argue that the flower head piece and dream catcher necklace may be over-the-top paired together, but I say go for it. I wanted the hippy whimsical feel, and there are few other times that a flower headpiece is appropriate. Don’t forget a small bag to hold your camera and a refillable water bottle for those brutal desert days.

Whether you’re attending Coachella, Outside Lands, or another festival this summer, don’t be afraid to go all out, and wear exactly what you want to. It’s good to escape reality every once in awhile.

How would you dress to attend a festival? Would you go all out hippy or grudge? Or play it simple with no fuss? Leave a comment below with your own outfit ideas or inspirations.
