Nicolas Nadeau formed Single Lash as a solo endeavor during his college years in Providence, Rhode Island while attending RISD. Originally a noise based project, he later recruited hometown friend Colin Foster from San Antonio on bass to flesh out more of the colder, dark pop/shoegaze sensibilities. As the project grew and transformed through a myriad of genres and experiments; Neil Lord joined in early 2013 on drums, forming the band as it’s seen on its debut LP released on Mirror Universe Tapes.
Future Museums is the long standing outlet for Neil Lord. The project began as an ambient recording experiment, the first album A Solar Gold being recorded in the backseat of a Nissan Maxima in between classes at a community college in Arkansas. Neil moved to Austin the summer of 2010 and formed the first full band line up that winter. As albums progressed and different musicians came in and out the picture, Neil began playing with Nicolas Nadeau in Single Lash (simultaneously joining now defunct Poppy Red). Their collaborations took them beyond Single Lash and into the studio with Future Museums for their first LP for Fire Talk Records (joining them was Maxwell Parrott also of Poppy Red as well as the also defunct Classy Nude, and Xander Harris/Red Ox mastermind Justin Sweatt). Future Museums also has a mini-album coming out later this year on Mirror Universe Tapes. Their new LP is available August 21st digitally and Sept 18th on 10″ Lathe Cut Vinyl and Cassette.
Tonight both Single Lash and Future Museums will be playing a show in Brooklyn, New York at Alphaville with our shoegaze favorites, Dead Leaf Echo. Keep updated with their tour adventures over on our Instagram.
