Layers and Stitches
Based out of Toronto, visual artist Frances Sousa has been featured in ADONE Magazine, Pudge Magazine, as well as had her work displayed at The Black Cat art gallery in Toronto, Canada. By using a variety of patterns and textures, Sousa succeeds in creating rich depth and near tangibility in her artwork. The resonance of soft pastel colors and an original choice in material draw forth a sense of nostalgia, as shown in the following four pieces. You can discover more of Sousa’s artwork on her Tumblr page. Landscapes Untitled Overlap #7 Free Stitch
Bitchin’ Babes: Thelma and Louise
This summer’s fashion is focused around being one bad bitch, am I wrong? With dozens of rebellious street wear brands emerging, acid wash making a come back, and that rockin’ attitude you’ve got at it’s fullest, this look is easier than your aunt Suzi at a New Year’s party. With that said, find your self some hot high waisted cut-off shorts, a tee that let’s everyone know that a bad ass bitch has just walked into the room, and a cool pair of kicks to top it off. You’ve got the look. #WHATABABE. If you don’t have much money to spend, that’s A-OKAY. Why? Because oh yeah, there’s this thing…
Jen Hingley’s “Autonomy”: An Album of One’s Own
Autonomy: (noun; Independence or freedom, as of the will or one’s actions) – an appropriate name for Jen Hingley’s most recent and entirely self-produced and self-recorded album. Hailing from Manchester, UK, Hingley has her hands in many artistic projects ranging from print and web layout design to photography and film. It would seem that this poly-artistic approach to creation has given Hingley the ability to fully grasp a conceptual idea from different artistic perspectives and communicate it effectively through her music. Along with songs titled “There’s No One Left” and “Solo”, you get the sensation that it is as much about the process of working by yourself as it…
Music Video Premiere: Man Woman Friend Computer – “Exordium/Outgrown”
Inhabiting a sonic space that melds mind and machine, Thomas Echols’ evocatively titled project Man, Woman, Friend, Computer is an exploration of ambient textures and moods. Introspective and meandering, each tracks plays out as a living, breathing entity. When Echols, a classically trained guitarist, reconnected with former student Yuliya Tsukerman, he discovered a mutual interest in creating expansive universes layered with cosmic imagery and autobiographical detail. Tsukerman, a Brooklyn-based filmmaker and marionette artist, first set out to create a sparse visual landscape for the album’s opening track — an endeavor that gradually expanded into a sweeping, meticulously handcrafted 15-minute film. Echols mentions that, in the first stages of the…
Poetry by PJ Carmichael
Poetry by PJ Carmichael Best-Selling Authors Who’s been chasing the New York Times’ best-seller list again? I’ve been chasing my own tail for the past few years, entertained the idea of freak show success, but they’re not hiring. Besides, there’s too many willing and eager to exploit faulty faculties. A get-rich- quick scheme, the lowest common denominator, chronicles of each fleeting moment: I’ve dug my own grave and there’s no use getting out now. But I guess one man’s trash is another man’s Bible, one man’s codex, another’s torch, and on and on… Accomplices fill their bookshelves with unread trophies, the semblance of sanity, paperback paperweights, hardcore hardcovers, an…
NEW MUSIC PREMIERE: Christine Renner – “Drown”
Christine Renner's bold in broken places sentimental pop warmly spins the experience in the omnipresent naivety of youth while maintaining integrity worthy of introspective appreciation. Renner is an idealist shaping inflected lyrics into rich ambiguous lingering dream monuments to greater truths and devastating defeats, no truer is this statement than with her new single "Drown."

The Grand Budapest Hotel
The Grand Budapest Hotel is a visual orgasm. After our private screening we were left begging for more, more, and more. More color. More perfect asymmetry. More young love (and some not so young). The film is heavily weighted in flash backs and forwards, as the author of The Grand Budapest Hotel (Tom Wilkinson) recollects an intimate dinner with Mr. Zero Moustafa (F. Murray Abraham). Mustafa indulges the young author (Jude Law) in how he obtained the Grand Budapest, which is where we meet the keystone, M. Gustave. Monsieur Gustave (Ralph Fiennes) is the perfect concierge. He knows everyone’s quirks, keeps everyone’s secrets, and gets it on with the old,…

Music Video: Moron’s Morons – “Addicted to Homicide”
Without an official release date other than "out soon" from Slovenly Records, let us for the moment breathe once more the air of anticipation from this Michał Mitoraj directed video for "Addicted to Homicide." Things are looking big for scuzzy rock n roll this year; Moron's Morons and Slovenly Records in general look to be significant factors in that statement.
