In light of the growing trend of psychedelic and electronic music, Austin-based band Common Velvet veers off in their own psych-pop filled path, creating infectious gems complete with silky vocals courtesy of front-woman Lauren Sanders. Sanders wrote and recorded demos before fully forming the band, now consisting of Andrew Orsak on guitar, Dane Edwards on bass, Andrew Alter on drums and Mathew Antony on keys. Their newest track, “It Was Your Idea, Not Mine”, was recorded in Austin, Texas by Allie Lingren and mixed in Fort Worth by Curtis Heath. “It Was Your Idea, Not Mine” is a perfect piece to turn up on your headphones as a soothing escape for a near four minutes, or better yet to immerse yourself in live. You can catch the band performing in Austin at Cheer Up Charlies tomorrow, February 10th at 10PM as well as Friday, February 26th at Independence Brewing Company at 8PM. You can also keep updated with the band on their Facebook page.

Trish Connelly is the Austin-based guru who does booking and promoting at Cheer Up Charlies under The Nothing Song. She’s always down to collaborate and plan a show or event in town. She’s an expert with mixtapes (for all musicians out there you’ll want to send her your stuff!), and making connections with the cool kids. She may have a tad obsession with comics and Corgies, but she keeps it under control. You can follow her on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
