Trouble Boys: Bigger Than The Both Of Us
Trouble Boys Bigger Than the Both of Us By Jay Armstrong In my own living room, as I’m hitting stride on some puffed chest ego stroking story about kicking dust with Cheetah Chrome and Bobby Liebling on some otherwise forgettable night of recent past, a friend interrupts asking “who are they? Should I know them?” With such a harsh truth about reality in mind one is left with only one valid question; what kind of chance do the Trouble Boys (or any other band we give a shit about for that matter) have at all? In the end all of this amounts to nothing, all of it. On a long…

Trouble Boys – Bustin’ Loose By Jay Armstrong Video Premiere and Tour Dates Last month when we said “Trouble Boys make the best goddamn rock and roll Austin has felt this side of The Skunks,” you can believe we meant it. As they head out on tour this week here is your chance to see for yourself why our word is worth its weight in gold. This video shot by Andy Ray Lemon should be enough to get those pants just tight enough to fire ya up to catch them in the wild. They kick things off tomorrow night at Hotel Vegas alongside America’s favorite sleazy good time The…
Indie Radar – Le Trouble
When it comes to indie music, there are some things that the listener can come to expect. Whether it’s indie-rock or folk, there is a status-quo to music, and a comfortable boundary of tried and not-tried. In many ways, when I hear a new band, I find myself cataloging their sound in my mind, comparing them to the sound of both new and old bands alike. The first time I heard Le Trouble’s daring work, I was stumped. I couldn’t really think of anything that sounded quite like it. There’s just something different, and I can’t quite put my finger on it. The result of a Quebec born guitarist/songwriter and…
New Music: Dinos Boys – “Holy War”
No band this side of Drunk Mums rips from flesh to spin in threaded defining fashion better than Dinos Boys do. "Holy War" continues the conversation further. As loose as a demo, rowdy as a riot, and doggonit the chaps are likable.
Secret Bad Boys: They Said They’d Never Win, We Knew They Had To
Here's to Secret Bad Boys for giving us something gloriously shitty to believe in.
Sneak Peak: Small Black’s “Boys Life”
Brooklyn-based band Small Black will release their new album, Best Blues, on October 16th. A ten track album revolving around the concept of memories and loss, Best Blues is “an attempt to re-examine the past, but also one to let it go.” Amidst the many items lost and discovered by singer Josh Hayden Kolenik after Hurricane Sandy destroyed his family’s home is a faded photograph of a women walking the shore at dusk. With no certain recollection of memories attached to the photo on their album cover, Small Black persuades the viewer to construct their own personal account of this forgotten image. Their song for “Boys Life” echoes these…

When the Beach Boys Say Forever, They Mean FOREVER: Still America’s Greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll Band 50 Years Later
Words by: Merri Palmer Photographer: Ismael Quintanilla III I thought I knew what rock ‘n’ roll was until I saw The Beach Boys. My generation grew up on Beach Boys’ surf rock, a sound so familiar and quintessential to American life that it may as well have been baseball, or apple pie, or stars and stripes. I have a sharp childhood memory of singing “Barbara Ann” at the top of my lungs in a restaurant bathroom. As those harmonies eked through the raspy speakers and into my soul, I knew this was music. As I grew older, friends got into boy bands and pop, hip-hop and metal. I felt…

Gooch Palms – New Single “Are We Wasted?” – SXSW 2019 – Tour Dates
Gooch Palms new single "Are We Wasted?" further solidifies our suspicions towards the Aussie tradition of baking up tasty snacks that are the perfect blend of colorful sweetness we somehow manage to look cooler by eating. Something weird has been going on down in Australia for a while now, something is up we can feel. As far as the video goes, our homie Slater said it best, "you couldn't handle that shit on strong acid."
