Photographer: Kate V ( Instagram ) Stylist: Albina Sharifullina ( Instagram ) Make Up & Hair: Olya Mozhaeva ( Instagram ) Model: Viktoria Liguzova ( Instagram ) Me and my team had an amazing experience shooting in Pokrovskoe-Streshnego Estate, which used to belong to the Romanov Dynasty. The history of the estate began in 1584 with its latest changes made in 1914. From 1981 the estate was abandoned and unfortunately left in poor condition. The security guard gave us only an hour for our photoshoot so we were in a hurry. When we started to shoot we initially opened a door within the building, only to find a room…

Photography: Apache Palace by Elise Boularan
Photographer: Elise Boularan ( Instagram ) Agency: Hans Lucas I deliberately use a refined vocabulary and a language without any flourish for images from everyday life with a degree of abstraction, which erase all reference points. This photographic work marked by ambiguity is in the form of fragments, strata and combinations. It takes root in researching, experimenting and questioning. I’m attracted to the non-formulaic, which is of the unspeakable and secretive. How does one make visible what is hidden, how to put forward this invisible gesture ? This reflection is always in my work. These representations are like some clues of an enigma, and they conjugate or oppose various…

Pile Takeover!
Website || Facebook || Instagram Photo Credit: Elisabeth Fuchsia Pile Takeover! Words by Trish Connelly What initated as a solo project by Rick Maguire (or commonly referred to as “Rick from Pile”) a decade ago has now fostered into one of Boston’s most distinct indie rock groups. After playing shows in his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts, Maguire sought out a drummer leading to the band’s current four piece with Matt Becker on guitar, Matt Connery on bass and Kris Kuss on drums. Pile’s first full length, Demonstration, was released in 2007, followed by their sophomore album Jerk Routine in 2009 and Magic Isn’t Real with their current lineup in…
Stonefield Takeover!
It all started in a shed. More specifically, it started in a shed on a family hobby farm in a tiny rural township in Victoria, Australia. The four Findlay sisters, who’d go on to become the earthen psych-rock opal that is Stonefield, had been granted their wish of a drum kit by their parents, whose Zappa, Hendrix and Zeppelin records had long been the shared soundtrack of the household. Amy – the oldest Findlay, though at that time just 15 – took a particular shine to the kit and soon began lessons, her practice sessions echoing out across the family’s acreage. It wasn’t long, however, before her sisters were…

Photography: Figures and Incidents by Elvira Kolerova
Photographer: Elvira Kolerova ( Instagram ) Elvira Kolerova is a Russian-born photographer who lives and works in Berlin, Germany. She holds a master’s degree in American Studies from Humboldt University of Berlin and is studying fine art photography. In her ongoing photographic project, “Figures and Incidents” (2016-2017), she explores the aesthetics, manipulative techniques and the stylistic construction of the probably least respected film genre ‒ the slasher film. By using the visual language of slasher movies combined with vivid colors, strong contrasts and often feeble lighting, she creates a mysterious space with tension and uncertainty, every picture telling its own story. The uncertainty of what happened or what will…

Film Review: Raw
Raw by Jay Armstrong Today marks my fifth time watching Raw. Drop what you are doing, call into work, close this article, and go see the film in the proper religious form it demands. There is a solid chance it will only remain in theaters for a couple of days so, seriously, stop waving around that stupid despondent millennial I’ll-get-to-it-when-I-get-to-it flag and prioritize the experience over just milling around with a growing list of future ways to fill the void of boredom. For this to be the initial feature from writer/director Julia Ducournau is mythical. Raw is equal with the best work of Hitchcock and Polanski, not the sort…

Review: Of Montreal Live at The Mohawk by Troy Gonzales and Raphael Umscheid
Writer: Troy Gonzales ( Instagram ) Photographer: Raphael Umscheid ( Instagram ) It was a deliciously cool Thursday night in Austin and the devoted gathered at the Mohawk once again for the return of of Montreal and its psychedelic glam rock/electronic dance party. The opening band Christina Schneider’s Jepeto Solutions from New York City proved the perfect appetizer for the night’s headliners; the dynamic juxtaposition of Ms. Schneider’s folkish vocal delivery and Quentin Moore’s frenzied guitar work marks them as band to keep an eye on in the future. While the release of each new of Montreal album, with their kaleidoscope of changing musical styles, allows the listener…
Photography: 1celand by Irene Tondelli
Photographer: Irene Tondelli ( Instagram ) I am a documentary and travel photographer based in Northern Italy. I also work as an art director in the field of interior design. In the last few years I worked in advertising agencies but I am now focusing on photography, my true love. Taking pictures helps me to investigate my intimate relationship with places, like an inner dialogue that takes shape through images. I am interested in the relation between spaces and the people who live in them. The human figure rarely appears in my pictures. I find documenting the passage of people more interesting than their physical presence. I like the…

Says Rose of her move from Chicago to Ukraine, “I came [here] because my lack of planning allowed me to. After hitchhiking and squatting for the past two years, I found the clarity and courage to delve into a venture that has no comparison. I don’t know how this will turn out, but everyday my senses undergo a quiet upheaval. Considering the current global context, I found my keys in Ukraine.” [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRKo8vf7EXY[/embedyt]

Interview/Takeover with Fashion Photographer Nina Hawkins!
Photography by Nina Hawkins Hey! I’m Nina Hawkins, an Austin-based Russian-Vietnamese image-maker. My first date with fashion was in Moscow over 10 years ago, where I started as a model. I’ve been in love with imagery ever since, learning from Russia’s top professionals while progressing into my own path, creating still and moving images for publications across the globe such as Elle Vietnam, HUF USA, Kaltblut Germany, Creem Magazine and others. In my art & commercial work I always seek to reveal an edge and a quirk, trying to think outside of the box and be attentive to every detail. I like to cast sharp, unconventional, and androgynous faces. For personal style think Rick Owens marrying Y-3 and adopting…
