Shoes? No. Dresses? No. Rings? No. Brooches. Bitches love them some brooches. For the ones on the naughty list, from gossiprag, a pin up Hitler brooch: For the classay laday, from Crystalitzy, a crystal and pearl brooch: For the one who’s still shipping Hillary, from LiaLane,…
An Interview With Mikel Ledesma
Meet Mikel Ledesma; based out of Fort Worth, this up and coming director is one you’ll want to keep on your radar. Recently finishing his directorial shorts Shattered and Losing Your Flames earlier this year, both films step into unbound territory and tackle controversial subjects to help spread Ledesma’s message and broaden viewer’s opinions and perspectives. Ledesma took time out of his busy schedule to answer some questions on what he hopes to accomplish with his films, his advice for young filmmakers out there, and what he has next in store for us. What inspired each of your movies? I wanted to make a strong come back…

Layers and Stitches
Based out of Toronto, visual artist Frances Sousa has been featured in ADONE Magazine, Pudge Magazine, as well as had her work displayed at The Black Cat art gallery in Toronto, Canada. By using a variety of patterns and textures, Sousa succeeds in creating rich depth and near tangibility in her artwork. The resonance of soft pastel colors and an original choice in material draw forth a sense of nostalgia, as shown in the following four pieces. You can discover more of Sousa’s artwork on her Tumblr page. Landscapes Untitled Overlap #7 Free Stitch

Casual Strangers Takeover!
Casual Strangers Vinyl Release at The Mohawk Austin – 12/13/14 A year ago we created a new band with old friends and wrote the album Casual Strangers. Derek M. Ballard in a Post Erotic World
Derek M. Ballard is a cartoonist with an unmistakable style that blends geometric shapes and strange sexual imagery. His art is beautiful, disruptive, yet unsettling and different. In other words, he is absolutely everything the underground comix scene has represented since their conception. Currently residing in Gainsville, Florida, Ballard creates title cards and storyboards for the popular Cartoon Network show Adventure Time in addition to pursuing the dream of self-publishing comic books and zines. He says he originated “post-eroticism,” which I gather as seeing erotica as a form of entertainment rather than a sexual arousing manner as seen in his art. With both of Ballard’s Cartoonshow comics, Cartoonshow #1: You…
Winter Wardrobe
Ladies, we all know that dressing cute during the winter season can be nearly impossible, especially when mother nature says a big “fuck you and your new cute dress” and throws a blizzard your way. Yeah, mother nature sucks. Regardless, on those days when mother nature isn’t being a dick, you should take advantage of the *warmer* weather and test out some of these looks. And keep in mind that you can take these and make your own look out of it! Also note, just because something seems pricey doesn’t mean you should toss in the towel, because hey, we live in the 21st century where having alternatives is always…

Flying Lotus x MF DOOM’s “Masquatch”
Two men known for their awesome collaborations have just collaborated. Flying Lotus, who just recently came out with what I would call his magnum opus album, You’re Dead!, and MF DOOM, who just did a bomb collab with Bishop Nehru entitled NehruvianDOOM, have come together to put the damn cherry on top with a quick little treat created for the updated Grand Theft Audo V soundtrack, “Masquatch”. This track is as dark and dank as a DOOM track and as ethereal and mysterious as a FlyLo track. Get your popcorn ready. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDJShdujfa8
The Alcohol Diaries: Raspberry Lemonade and Vodka
I finished out my strange and wonderful year with the greatest group of friends I could have asked for. Maya was the one who got me through the year. We spent an obscene amount of time together and made what seems like a lifetime of memories. I’m writing this from her hometown, where I’m spending my precious two weeks of vacation this summer. Emma, another suitemate, completed the trio. She’s honest, outspoken, and willing to shoot the shit for hours, even in the middle of the night. She grew closer to Maya and I in our second semester and I couldn’t be more grateful she did. Nat was the seventh…

Foxhunt’s Strange Creatures Album Review
Originating in Austin, Texas, Foxhunt emerges onto the music scene with a mixture of modern folk, dreamy electronics and teeming tones of alternative rock. Beginning their career as a group, Joseph Kosier, Stephen Marshall, Nadyia Marshall and Wesley Goins have yet to release their studio album, Strange Creatures, and is met with as much anticipation as excitement to preview the beginning to a long road of success embedded in their path. Unlike many other bands mixing genres together to discover a profound fuse of something unknown to music lovers abroad, Foxhunt centers around “love, alienation and the price of both.” When circulating the depths of music, Foxhunt uses the…

Get Them While They’re Young: The Art of Darren Cullen
It’s rare these days to get though a four-minute commercial break without seeing at least one loan related advert, and even rarer to meet someone who isn’t – in some way or another – indebted to a corporate giant. Both are indicative of society’s increasingly warped relationship with money, but with the world of finance as abstract as it now is, how can people possibly be expected to relate to it in any real way? This abstraction is, of course, all part of the economic game, a game that plays by it’s own rules; our laissez-faire government sits back and watches banks pluck money out of thin air time…
