Director Triana Hernandez has a full grasp on the image the band is building their dominance on, with a minimalist shot on videocassette approach we get Wake in Fright vibes that neither skew Amyl and the Sniffers in the slightest from focus on the song itself while solidifying what anyone who has caught them live wants to see encapsulated; the unadulterated, theatrically raw, in the moment now of a band changing our existence for the better.
As for this moment here now Amyl and the Sniffers are everything.
Best of SXSW 2019 Part 3 Amyl and the Sniffers | The Mystery Lights | Banditos | Leo Rondeau
There are precisely two things we cannot get enough of lately; Amy Taylor (Amyl and the Sniffers) and pointed criticism aimed at socialite parasites destroying all we have found significant and substantial by their vein tourism. With "Nudge It" Sleaford Mods combine both with cutting perfection.
Gooch Palms new single "Are We Wasted?" further solidifies our suspicions towards the Aussie tradition of baking up tasty snacks that are the perfect blend of colorful sweetness we somehow manage to look cooler by eating. Something weird has been going on down in Australia for a while now, something is up we can feel. As far as the video goes, our homie Slater said it best, "you couldn't handle that shit on strong acid."
Having gone hard for five solid years now, spoon feeding Drunk Mums to every poor bastard I rub shoulders with, now less than a week until these Australian gods finally (FINALLLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) smell up Hotel Vegas, I daydream of the halo hazed optimism, the restored faith in a very alive still kicking spirit of rock n roll coming off these dudes as they climb out of the van to feel this over-hyped city for themselves.

The definitive unarguably best bands you would be an idiot to miss at SXSW 2019.

Drunk Mums are one of the last vestiges of wild expressive cool left in the world. Quite possibly one of the last for all of existence!
